3 Commitments To Crush It
My husband and I are building a new house, so we have the opportunity to spend time with some very talented people including the architect, builder and designer. But one of my favorite interactions has been with the cabinet maker, Joey.
Joey is a true craftsman. His father started the business decades ago and Joey was the one out of four sons that took an interest in his father’s trade. His passion has grown the business to three locations and they are part of an exclusive group of cabinet makers that make all of their products on-site.
There are 3 commitments I observed in Joey during my time in his shop last week that I believe contribute significantly to his success and they are worth emulating if you want to be successful in your career.
Commit to the Culture.
It’s obvious that Keystone Millworks has a great culture. As we walked around the shop, team members are working hard, but also smiling and always have a fist bump for the boss. Joey constantly compliments his talent. He tells their stories, he knows their families and he cares about them deeply.
Commit to the Customer.
Joey and his team receive the highest of customer reviews. He is focused on making sure the customer receives exactly what they want and he helps find the perfect solution for every situation. In addition, he is hospitable, making the customer feel at home and comfortable. We were at the shop late on a Friday before a holiday and he did not rush us for one moment, even though we were the last ones out of the building. He genuinely thanked us for our business. He communicated that he was deeply honored to have our business, while at the same time, we were so grateful to experience his skills.
Commit to the Craft.
To meet a true craftsman is rare these days. Joey knows his craft and is proud of the work his team does. He can tell you every detail about his products and about the people and machinery that create them. He creates on the fly, manipulating his computer screen as fast as the customer dictates a new request. He loves his work, which is probably why there is always a smile on his face whether he is speaking to the customer, walking through the shop or creating CAD drawings on his computer in real time.

If you want to crush your career in 2023, Joey provides a strong template: 1. Commit to strengthening the culture of your organization; 2. Commit to the serving your customers; 3. Commit to growing your craft.
And if you happen to be in need for some custom cabinets, doors or other woodwork, I recommend that you check out Keystone Millworks!
