Energy
“Manage your energy, not your time. Your energy determines what you can accomplish.” – Tony Schwartz
What is much more important than time management? Energy management.
First, learn your natural energy rhythm (for example, 90% of us dip in energy around 3 pm).
When do you usually have high energy? Morning? Afternoon? After dinner?
Armed with this insight, you can sync your most demanding work with your highest energy spikes (and your mindless work with your energy dip).
For years, I spent my high-energy time on mindless computer stuff (email, etc.) because it was right in front of my face. This is such a waste. I’m learning to guard my high-energy spikes and use them for my big thinking (doing analysis, getting creative, having big conversations, etc.)
This change alone can dramatically increase your productivity. The same amount of time spent working, but a lot more done.
