About CEO Zones
Since 1979, our Founder has owned and operated a series of small or medium-sized businesses. Nearly all that time running highly regarded consultancies to the Directors and C-Suite officers of medium and large-sized businesses—those whose principal goal is to deliver on the value proposition their organizations take to the marketplace. Serving executives who are also contending with the vagaries of shareholders and stakeholders alike.Proceeding from that vast experience are several entwined and significant observations:
Too often those bearing the responsibility for the greater organization are multi-faceted individuals who are charged with leaning hard into just one facet —organizational leadership. Consequently, other vital dimensions wither or, worse, become disruptions. Counterintuitive to many, this imposed myopia inhibits their ability to maximize leadership results. In contrast, those executives who recognize the beneficial synergy of living well among their lives’ many roles, or “zones” as we call them, lead more effectively, and ultimately succeed more effortlessly.
An executive’s most valuable, and rarest, peer relationships are founded on the purity of being for the other in the interchange. Such associations aspire to rise above the transactional level in pursuit of the transformational. Debilitating is the self-interest that fosters a lack of bias-free input from otherwise competent colleagues. Leading well requires that conceptual, even fanciful, conversations nurturing essential clarity are best held first with those outside the organization.
The best executives are lifelong learners and, consequently, dynamic problem solvers. But the resources they feed upon and the solutions they find must first be winnowed from a profuse, and frequently mediocre, supply. The direct relationship between resource quality and the time demanded to discover it is an opportunity for increased productivity.
With these insights as a foundation, CEO Zones was conceived to solve three problems:
1- the tendency toward role myopia
2- the implicit bias of colleagues
3- the need for high quality, well curated resources, forums, and events
And to what end?
We say it this way: CEO Zones exists to improve the performance, work/life fulfilment, and principal relationships of its members.

A Note About Our Founder
Throughout the multiple decades I’ve known Bill three things have remained constant:
1- His ambition to succeed as a business leader and owner,
2- His persistent service to support & elevate those around him, and
3- His commitment to the person of Jesus Christ.
From becoming a Chick-fil-A owner/ operator at 22 to recently selling a medium-sized consultancy he cofounded in 2004, Bill has consistently championed the need for his employees and client executives alike to embrace success in the totality of their lives. With CEO Zones he is putting that conviction front and center, bringing his considerable knowledge, expertise, and energy to bear on a too frequently ignored truth among high achievers: career success without whole-life success is a hollow victory.
With Chief Executive Officers on five continents Bill has earned a reputation for understanding the needs, aligning the approach, and delivering the desired results for the organization. And always in the right way—never separating the person from their professional performance, but, rather, seeing them as vital complements to the attainment of ambitious goals.
That paradigm shapes the DNA of CEO Zones. It is the path to life fulfillment and the resources Bill offers you here are the steppingstones.
To your whole-life success,
Clark Howell, Council of Advisors
