Meet

The Ryan Brubaker Foundation grew out of a love for our son, Ryan, who passed on September 11, 2012 at the age of 21. He was a graduate of Warwick High School, Lancaster Career and Technology Center and Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. Although Ryan was never one to be in the spotlight we believe he would be delighted to know that an organization with his namesake is reaching out to help others and that three of our partners are institutions which had a significant positive influence in his life.

Ryan had a caring, gentle spirit and a deep love for family and friends. His affable style and huge smile could light up a room. One of our goals is to light up the lives of kids temporarily living in need of a helping hand … for any reason. “Helping Local Youth in Need” is a broad mission designed specifically to allow flexibility in options for assisting and benefiting adolescents. Counseling services, mission retreats, humanitarian experiences, etc. are all avenues we will consider as a means for offering local youth, a helping hand in a time of need.
It seems that the below would be better to take off their website.

Our Impact:  During the Past Year
1170+ Students & Faculty
1170 high school students and faculty heard one of 5 presentations from “Minding Your Mind” across 4 locations. The AEVIDUM message is “I’ve got your back.” This is a powerful session that helps students to talk about their needs.

51 Students
51 students served on AEVIDUM student leadership teams. The students were actively involved in promoting AEVIDUM in the school.

100% Participation
100% participation from the students and faculty of the Lancaster County Career and Technology Center’s in Willow Street and Brownstown Campuses in learning and using the 5-finger pledge from changedirection.org. – students had to learn the 5 signs of suffering.

600 Students & Faculty
600 students and faculty participated in a Wellness Fair which included an AEVIDUM table manned by a student leadership team.

100% of Lancaster County CTC
100% of the programs at the Lancaster County CTC received information on the suicide hotline and the 5 signs of suffering posters for their classrooms – exposing 1476 students to the message. Additional posters were placed throughout the buildings including the lunchroom, bus docks, school counseling office, etc.

300+ Faculty & Staff
The faculty and staff (300 plus) of the Lancaster County Career and Technology Center’s participated in “Mental Health First Aid.” The training is designed to help identify and respond to “students in need.”

15 Students Received Assistance
15 students received direct financial assistance, treatment, counseling during and off school hours, and help with program costs assistance from Ryan Brubaker Foundation grants. The needed mental health expenses are a result of addiction, mental health and homelessness, and lack of insurance.

One Student Goes Above & Beyond
One student received a Ryan Brubaker Foundation Scholarship for persevering and going above and beyond despite challenging medical issues.

WellSpan Partners
WellSpan Philhaven and Warwick School District, with the assistance of funds from the Ryan Brubaker Foundation, responded to Behavioral Healthcare needs of students. WellSpan Philhaven began providing Outpatient School Based therapy at the High School November 5, 2018.

The mission of the Foundation is to benefit “local youth in need”.  Our goal is to improve the quality of life for young people, helping them build resilience, develop coping mechanisms, and lead healthier, more productive lives.  The Foundation encourages “help seeking behavior” by proactively identifying and supporting ‘at risk’ youth, along with removing obstacles to receiving help.  The Ryan Brubaker Foundation works cooperatively with our community partners (Samaritan Counseling, Wellspan Philhaven, Warwick School District,

Lancaster County Career and Technology Centers, Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, and the Jeff Musser Foundation) to address ‘at risk’ youth through identification, intervention, and remediation.
